Does your website align with your vision?
What do I mean by this?
Imagine your goal is to reduce your 1:1 therapy (or even phase out of it) by offering lush weekend retreats in a tropical location somewhere. Maybe you’ve told your partner and your best friend that this is the dream. You’ve got inspirational pictures on your vision board and written down your ideas in your journal. Maybe you’ve even shared them with a business coach?
Actually someone did share this vision with me on a coaching call last week and I wanted to sign up!
But your website? That dream is nowhere to be seen. It only reflects your current reality, offering 1:1 therapy. With photos of you at your desk and maybe a pot plant.
If you want to be running premium lush retreats for EMDR or somatic work or dog/goat/horse therapy (I’d sign up for that too btw!) you’ve got to set the scene now. Not when it’s ‘ready’.
Put some photos of lush locations on there. Write a paragraph about how you’ve always loved Bali/the Hinterland/wherever your dream location is. Put up a blog post about how X research says doing Y training on a retreat is magical because….
SHOW me what you want to sell me.
If you can see it, it’s for you.
Not ‘one day’ but now. Just put it out there on your website.
You don’t have to have all the details lined up first. It can be something you’re working towards. That’s ok. You can put up waitlists and ‘coming soon’ announcements if it makes you feel better. It’s just one action step that takes your dream out of your head and into the world. See what happens.
You WANT to build buzz because people need to see the offer at least 7 times before they even hold onto the information.
At some stage, you’ll want to give your retreat or course a test run. Try it out on some friends. Go to a nice location, hire a photographer and get some shots of you teaching or doing the thing you want to be doing.
If you’re not ready for that then find someone who doesn’t have small, messy children and borrow their house or garden. Grab your friend who has the best camera in their phone and do it that way.
Think of it like a serving suggestion. It’s not necessarily what comes in the box. It’s just there to inspire. It’s also WAY better than using stock images.
We want people to feel something. The more you share your vision, the more likely they are to remember you for it.
The bottom line?
You cannot become associated with your business goal or niche or unique offering unless you create content that supports it.
