I have complained about those bear cards to my students for more than 10 years now.
Yet did I come up with a better option? No
Thankfully, my guest on the The Mess Behind the Success podcast this week has done just that!
Adelle Sushames is a psychologist, creator, and AUDHDer who invented the spoon savers, spoon thieves and otehr ND-affirming card decks
Adelle and I were actually in the same Psychology class together in Year 11/12. It’s been such a fun synchonicity to reconnect after all these years.
Armed with nothing but Canva and her own “autistic brain dump”, Adelle created her first card deck — then another, and another — until five products (and a soon-to-be-published book!) later, she’s built a thriving business. No hustling, no pushing her nervous system.
Adelle gives an honest account about the process — the struggles with pricing, postage, the DIY assembly, the slow and steady building of an authentic online community.
We also talk about:
Growing your social media when the idea of gettting on video gives you the ick
When you have no desire to grow your practice or hire staff — what else can you do?
Running a business as a parent of a child who is experiencing school can’t (sometimes referred to as school avoidance or refusal)
It’s a powerful reminder that you don’t need to have it all figured out to start creating change.
Our full conversation is out now . I can’t wait for you to hear it.
