A multi sensory guide to coping with birth trauma. These are all real tools I’ve either used myself or have used with clients over my 10+ years of working with trauma. What you’ll see listed is a mash up of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, Mindfulness, The Emotional Freedom Technique, Guided Imagery and Hypnotherapy, Positive Psychology and Traditional Chinese Medicine (among other things).
My approach to self-care and coping is all about utilizing the senses, so I’ve organized these according to sight, sound, smell, taste and touch. Some will naturally overlap, but I’ve tried to arrange things for a distressed brain to navigate easily. This book is for people who have given birth AND partners who are looking for some simple, practical coping strategies. This book is also for birth workers who may have witnessed or heard about a traumatic birth at work.
